Timber Uses in Exterior Joinery & Construction
Western Red Cedar, Siberian Larch, Alaskan Yellow Cedar, H3 Radiata Pine, Oregon, Totara and Macrocarpa are all used in the exterior joinery market, mouldings, pergolas and exterior cladding.
Durable hardwoods such as Kwila, Saligna, Iroko, Jarrah, Rosewood, Teak and Vitex, are used in exterior joinery applications in a kiln-dried condition.
Purpleheart, Greenheart & Wallaba are used as decking, handrails, pergolas, posts and are usually supplied in a green or air-dry condition.
Western Red Cedar has been used in New Zealand for the last 40 years as a premium species for exterior joinery applications and is available in a number of grades both air and kiln-dried in a wide range of sizes up to 300mm wide and 200mm thick.
