Characteristics:
Spotted gum heartwood varies between light brown and dark red-brown with grey tinges. The grain is moderately textured and variable. The timber machines and finishes well and the wavy grain can produce an attractive fiddle back figure. The timber is hard, durable and highly resistant to decay.

Uses:
Heavy construction, power line cross arms, tool handles and ladder rungs. It has a special application in boatbuilding for boat ribs because of its bending qualities. As a kiln dried product it is also used for flooring.
